Art Spectrum Calcite
Art Spectrum Calcite is a fine dense white chalk (Calcium Carbonate) that is available in powder form and used to extend oil colours. Also known as Marble Dust, is used when making traditional grounds for oil painting will provide extra tooth. It can be added in small amounts to gesso as well to increase the tooth and change the texture of the coat, as well as increasing the absorbency of acrylic gessos. Calcite also has a lower oil absorbency rate than Whiting. Alternatively, Art Spectrum Calcite can be used as a filler for water-based paints, helping to increase their opacity.The Artist Warehouse
